Guys, jt posted some updated Touch Wiz (and AOSP) kernels on XDA this morning. xda-developers - View Single Post - [KERNEL] [4/15] For TouchWiz and AOSP/CM6/MIUI ROMs - Voodoo Sound+BLN+UV+Misc tweaks The change log for the 4/15 version says its got some minor ED01 content based on differences from the EC10 Memerize source drop the kernels are based on.

I've been out of the loop for a few weeks due to work and I'm thinking of flashing this latest kernel - Touch Wiz version of course.

Anybody use this latest 4/15 jt kernel yet or the 4/11 version that's posted there with SC 2.9.2?

Question #2: what IS the latest ROM (and kernel) if not SC 2.9.2 that you flashin' fools are using out there?

I haven't been on IRC either so I'm really out of touch. :p

Speaking of roms for the new kernels that will no doubt stem from the source... It strikes me as really strange that we didnt see a leak of the ED01 rom from VZ by now... Maybe samsung finally had enough of us harassing them about source code, so they dropped it as soon as they passed the rom to verizon? Or is verizon getting better about actually not letting secret software leak out of their hands?

The EC01 leak Adrynalyne gave us is actully ED01. We just got it early thanks to Adrynalyne and his source.

Will I loose any of my info or setting if I flash just the kernel already flashed EC01 radio would these be compatible.
Thanks

They are compatible. You will not lose anything flashing just the kernel. I can't remember if I even wiped cache and dalvik prior to flashing a kernel by itself, but it can't hurt.

Ive never cleared the caches and ive switched kernels a millions times....is there a way to check to see which kernel your on?

So is the EC01 on XDA a noticeable improvement over 2.9.x? I know there are usually only small differences but wanted to ask. I really don't want to wipe again as I had to last upgrade as well ;)

Are themes compatible? I am running the EC01 radio but nothing else at this point.

Thanks

if its stock EC01 then it will be a huge difference, as its stock.

set cpu will allow you to see kernel info but there isnt any way of knowing whats what unless you flash different kernels and write the info down.

I guess differences might not be the right word as I assumed there will be a lot of apps that I currently don't have :) I should know better than to ask that general a question LOL.

One way to find out.... Thanks.

There is a way through terminal emulator, but I don't know how. But if you can't remember which kernel you are on, you probably need to slow down. That would be a big culprit in your battery problems. The more you flash things, the more you tinker, the more changes you make, the worse your battery life is going to be. The best way to think of it is your battery life is like your gas mileage - If you are out on the highway and like to go fast but constantly have to go from 90 mph down to 65 mph, back and forth, your gas mileage is going to be considerably worse than if you stayed at about 75 mph. You would be able to stay at that constant speed for a longer period of time and your gas mileage will be considerably better. Every part of your phone - battery, kernel, rom, radio needs time to settle in and work with each other to achieve optimum performance. Trying out a kernel for a day, then ditching it for a new one because you weren't seeing any difference in battery life is actually working against you.

So far it seems most of the themes are still compatible.

I usually give them 2 days. Just wanted to know if there was a way to see what it was, thought that would be neat. I was able to use imnuts -100 this time around so im gonna try that for a few days....hopefully it works! but guessing there is going to be alot of new stuff coming out in the next few days....Good things to come

Might be a little smoother, might be placebo. Nothing huge in any case.

There is a debloated ec01 in the themes section on XDA that is similar to SC. You don't have to wipe data. Cache/dalvik.

Hey NOsquid,
I was actually going to give that debloated EC01 a try tonight. Nitro posted in that thread he is going to be posting an update sometime today. So I am going to wait until he posts the update, then try it.

Been running for 23 hours.. so far seems pretty good... No major hiccups.

I'm running on EC01 debloated with a comavolt kernel.

I'm loving it!

Which ROM? I thought there wasn't a debloated version yet? Or do you mean the one Adrynalyne posted with EC01 radio?

Sent with my thumbs.

Nitrogliceryne debloated and deodexed the EC01 ROM. JaeKar99 has a link to it in the ROMs section of this thread.
