I've been scouring the forums for the past two days, looking for a fix for the blank screen issue. My phone is a refurb with the new LCD and slower processor (much slower than my old Optimus S). I was having sever issues with ZVH and using anything other than the stock kernel. And soon, the stock kernel was also giving me fits. So I reverted back to ZV9 using the KP500 tool and a copy of LS670ZV9.cab that I had on my computer from the old phone, then I updated to ZVD using the update.zip for ZVD that I put on the root of my sdcard before I started. And I would boot to a blank screen and could only access my phone by pressing the power button twice. The first push put it to sleep and the second woke it up to a viewable screen.

So I tried every fix and patch I could find, including reflashing ZV9, ZVD and ZVH from update.zips. I tried multiple recovery flashes using a multitude of flash_image files found throught the forums. I tried almost all of the kernels I could find.

I came to the conclusion that the error had to come from the low-level format/flash from KP500 and LG Updater. So I spent another 2-3hrs looking for a cab file for ZVD...

I found this thread:

http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-optimus-s-rooting-roms-hacks/63636-how-revert-ls670v9-after-installing-over-air-ls670vc-vd-using-kp500-diag-mode.html

and at the bottom of sfhub's post is a link to all the cabs (so far) for our phones. I followed his instructions to a "T", substituting LS670ZVD.cab where he had LS670ZV9.cab. Also, when it asks for version, I used LS670ZVD_12, as found in the original file name for the cab.

I now have my screen back.

The only time I've heard of the screen behaving like you describe (press power off/on to get screen back) is with some earlier versions of GingerKernel (I think, might not be remembering correctly)

BTW that thread is in the reference section of the ZVH rooting thread.

I haven't heard of a slower processor in a newer revision of the Optimus. Did you mean your phone was behaving slower, or they actually changed to processor to something slower?

I was able to OC the older one to 825Mhz, but this one I have now can only go as high as 768Mhz. I'm seeing a few of the "newer" phones that are performing the same way. Maybe it was just a cpu batch problem, but it's kinda annoying after running at 825Mhz for so long.

It's just the luck of the draw. You had a very fast one before, but even with the old batches, some people had trouble going above 768. The default OC I think is set to what people felt was a safe range where all the CPUs could reach.
