new maxx

Any word on release date?

This waiting game is hurting sales, in my opinion. We continue to wait and wait until we can not wait any longer that we move on.

Trying to get my hands on a 2014 Moto X has been such a bad dream of delays, but if this thing is announced and available in stores before my (delayed again) shipping date of 10/17, I'll drop the X and go with the Turbo.

Its supposed to be sometime this month. I agree on the hurting sales. There have been a bunch of major phone releases lately and nary a word of this phone unless you are searching the depths of the secrets of the upcoming phone world. People are going to go out and buy the other exciting new phones and then not be able to get this one.

I still have another year left on my contract so I won't be getting one. Hopefully by that time they will have come out with a new phone.

This is a Verizon branded phone, remember, and I don't think Verizon cares all that much if you buy one of their phones and another, since they really make their money on the service. Motorola is just a contractor building a device to meet Verizon's specs.

It seems to me that Droid brand buyers are a specific bunch, and they'll either wait for a new model or just buy last year's if they need one right now. With all of the phones that came out this fall, the new Droids would have received no coverage, so it was probably smart to let the iPhone, note, and X releases happen and then introduce the Droids when Verizon gets maximum attention.

I love my current Droid Maxx, but dang that Droid Turbo looks like a really good phone. They are saying it has a 3900 battery. Should've just made it 4000. The more I read about it, the more I want it. Unfortunately I'm stuck with a two year contract.

I decided to check the trade in value for the Maxx on the verizon website and it's only $90 dollar. How come a piece of garbage like the iphone 4 is worth $200, but my much better Droid Maxx is only worth $90?

Supply and demand. The iPhone 4 is worth 200 because more people want to buy a used iPhone 4.

Engineers don't care about round numbers like 4000, they care about dimensions and usage. Most consumers don't care either.

Trade in values are always crap, but are they actually offering $200 on the 4? I suspect that may have more to do with them wanting the sale on a new iPhone vs the 4 actually being in enough demand to command that price.

Looks pretty good. I could see maybe getting one in red, but I hope they offer black as well. Though I probably won't be buying until this time next year.

I also prefer black. I will buy soon as my current MAXX is slowing down. Delays when opening emails and such...
