My name is Dan and I'm happy to have joined the Android users' forum.

Just bought an Android Motorola Bionic for my Japanese wife. Verizon sales people are relatively clueless (as am I, but I don't sell them) when it comes to Japanese translation/conversion apps.

Specifically, I downloaded Google translate to her phone. I was told that she should be able to do a number of things with it, such as:

*]Speak Japanese into the phone and have it translated to English and sent as a voice msg to English speaking contacts (like ME!!).

[*]Have the same spoken Japanese msg translated to English and sent as a text msg in English

[*]Write (with a stylus or even with herr finger) on the touch screen in Japanese and have this msg translated to English and sent as a voice OR txt msg in English.

If ANYONE (especially a Japanese person) has any idea how to accomplish these tasks, please advise. My lovely wife is starting to demand an I-Phone, but I told her that, without proper training, she wouldn't be able to accomplish these translation tasks on an I-Phone either.

Glad to be a member nonetheless.
