i bought a first gen 360 over the weekend are there any must have apps? i have been looking at faces man there are tons lol. also was looking at screen protectors on ebay there are some that come with covers for the sides?? anyone using these seems like a good idea if they stay on lol i am a diesel mechanic and do plan on wearing this at work (depending on what i am doing that is)

I'm not a professional mechanic by any means but I wear mine all the time while wrenching on my personal cars and working on other projects and I have never used a screen protector on mine and I have been using a Moto 360 since they came out last year and have never gotten a single scratch on the screen. Honestly the body protectors might be more useful than the screen protectors as I have gotten slight scratches on the case. But I don't honestly care about that much as I bought the watch as a functional device not something to show off, and they aren't really noticeable and don't effect its function in the slightest.

But if I was working in a shop again every day I would probably skip the screen protector and just grab an inexpensive silicone strap and one of the bumper cases for it and wear it all the time and not even worry about it.

As far as what apps to install, personally I have just stuck to the stock apps that are installed by default, I haven't found any third party apps that I can't live without. Besides I pretty much just use the watch for receiving notifications and telling the time which it does out of the box just fine. As far as faces go get the Watchmaker app and you will be amazed at just how many faces that are actually out there, and how easy it actually is to make you own if you are into that sort of thing. With the watchmaker app there are literally hundreds if not thousands of free faces that you can download. To me it was worth the couple of bucks to get the pro version of the app.

thanks already liking it a lot. nice to do voice text to reply instead of digging my phone out of my pocket all day long.

how are the cheap ebay screen protectors

I've used a screen protector for the watch face, it was a waterslide type. It gave a slight orange peel look which yuo could see when the light hit it right, and was ever so slightly grabby, not as slick a feel as glass. It did protect the glass when I rapped it on some doorways when in a hurry. If I did it again I'd look for one of the stiffer plastic types like I use for my phone as they are slicker to the touch.

Key apps IMHO are:

- Google keep - just say "OK Google - take a note" and there is a web app to view your notes later on PC, and of course phone companion app. Syncs across all. Really nice when you got stuff all over your hands, while driving, etc..

- Coffee App. Got people who love to text? Hard to text while your hands are tied up but this allows you to reply with a couple taps, uses precanned responses, including ones where you can customize the response.

I wrote about Tweetings & Coffee here. Check it out if you want to see pics & get more details.

Bubble Cloud Launcher - like the Apple app launcher. Even with the new app list, useful. I found the app list wasn't optimizing to my app usage, no idea why. Some comments on why it's helpful here.

THose are the ones I use pretty much constantly.
