Our trusty RAZRs have been out about two years now, who's planning to upgrade to the newest Moto X?

I like it, but am waiting on more critical reviews and I want to hold one before I pull the trigger.

Unless, of course, we get a Verizon Nexus phone.

A Nexus device on Verizon is highly unlikely. The Droid lineup and the Moto G + X are the only options if you want a near stock experience.
Might still be worth waiting in case the Nexus would be good enough that you would consider other carriers though :)

If I had to get a new phone, the Moto X would be near the top of the list.

But... I really like our HD's worry-free battery. And the near-blinding LED notification light, lol. And Smart Actions. And the (barely) one-handed form factor.

The new phones are certainly impressive from a spec and feature point of view, but I fear they've lost some of the basic practicality we have/had.

I agree. I'm looking at the newer phones and they all seem much much bigger than even the Maxx HD. All phones worth buying now have 5+" screens. Apple has finally moved into the 4.7" arena so i guess we must all move to something bigger. I mean the mini versions of certain models are the size of our Maxx! I've been thinking that if I'm going bigger might as well go all the way and just get a Note4! Predictions are that is battery life is pretty much on par with our phones anyway. The new MotoX looks great but I really do need more than 32gb of storage.

I was really liking the Moto X gen2 phone till I've been reading about poor battery life and having to buy the turbo charger. I got the maxx because of the larger batter so I never had a problem making it through the day with normal use. Since the moto X only has a 2300 mah battery, I'm going to consider other phones when I'm ready. I don't believe it's removable either so for me, thats a deal breaker.

When VZW starts selling the new X, I'll have to make a decision about pulling the trigger on that or waiting for a next gen DROID Maxx.

If there are some new rumors of updated DROIDS, I'll probably wait since the teasers about specs have been impressive. Then, it's the same story as what we have now - to go with a device that's carried on multiple carriers so more of a community in terms of support and wider choice of accessories. Or, something that's unique to Verizon....

Battery is too small. I could never go back to the panic of worrying about running out of charge in the evening, or even going back to charging every night.
