New NC questions

Just picked up a NC, havnt even powered it on yet. My question is how do I keep it from installing the 1.1 update before I root it? This will be my first, and I mean first experience w android as Im a blackberry user (until March that is). Thanks for any insight.

If you don't mind the rooting process, just grab the 1.01 update and install that. Keep the nook of from the internet and root it. Then flash the 1.1 update. All the instructions are sticked in this forum.
