New note...some questions

I have used jailbroken iPhone's for years. Don't like Apple but the iPhone is very stable, fluid, and integrated. That said, the lack of customization and closed nature bothers me. So I jailbreak to get back a small amount of control.

With the Note I felt it was time to give Android another shot. Plus I really like my Toshiba Thrive tablet.

I expected some bumps during the transition. But there are few things bothering me. If anyone can offer advice or if anyone knows if ICS update solves these please chime in:

1. I use imap email. When I delete an email it reappears after email syncs. This is a big problem. This does not happen on my Honeycomb tablet.

2. There are no options to move an email to a folder when using combined inbox. Even when reading a single email there is no option. This is a huge omission of a basic need!

3. My 2 year old iPhone 4 scrolls smoother than the Note. Not a deal killer, but surprised me a bit.

4. Little touches like the keyboard does not auto-capitalize "I" when I use it in a sentence. Seriously, am I just missing a setting for that or something?

5. Placing the cursor in front of a specific position when editing while typing can be hard without some sort of magnify guidance like the iPhone has.

6. Having no physical home button sucks. Why AT&T killed that for the US version is beyond me.

7. The power button position and sensitivity is terrible. Always bumping it when I do not want to.

8. Scrolling sometimes has a mind of its own and scrolls way past where I intend.

9. No way to easily disable my work email account on weekends. With iPhone is it easy to disable accounts as needed.

I could list a lot of good things about the Note. So plz don't bash me ;-). I am no Apple fan. I am a fan of getting my work done efficiently and am trying to like my Note. But I am close to returning it.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I'm also just coming from many iPhones... Try this link, & re-post. There alot of X-iPhone users of there. They may be the ones that can help u, & I out.:cool:

Thanks for the reply. Actually I gave up and returned the Note last night. I got tired of fighting with Android bugs. I will try again in a year or so if the iPhone 5 does not impress me.

You gave up too early. You can't give a whole new phone and OS 4 days to adjust too.

My Note is glitchy as hell. Wifi constantly disconnects and reconnects, web pages say, "Can't connect" when I clearly have Internet, Swype skips buttons I push, VERY LAGGY responsiveness. I may return mine too. My SGS2 is a great phone and I was hoping this would be too. Does it just need an update?

Maybe. But I spent a ton of hours with it. And the problems I was having were not going to solve themselves. My return was not a "this is different so I don't like it" decision. It was a "several core features I rely on are either missing or completely broken" decision.

I was looking for change actually. And I am already familiar with Android as I have an Android tablet and will be purchasing a second one soon.

I want Android phone to work for me. It just is not ready for me....yet. :-)

I had none of those issues. I believe you when you say you are. But I wonder if you have installed something causing that or if you have a defective unit? Never know. If you are at the point of returning it go ahead and do a factory reset. The problem may disappear after that.

Good luck.

Well the keyboard is easy....just try a different one from the market. Same thing with email. Use a different app. A lot of people have good things to say about K-9.
