Can the new latest OTA be safely applied to a rooted phone (official ROM), does it break root, and if so, can root be reestablished?

If you have stock recovery its a 50/50 thing, it works half the time depending on what you've changed, if it fails it just fails and contunues. If you have TWRP/CWM/PhilZ don't do it, you will soft brick and if you don't know how to recover your in trouble.

Best bet is go back to pure stock, take the OTAs to 26A, then root with Stump Root.

I am rooted and on stock and got both updates when they came out this month. Still rooted.
