Ok I dont get it now. I thought my issues were all device related. Apparently not. Im on the new phone now that just came yesterday and STILL not getting emails. Its not even that Im not getting notifications. Its not even showing the emails in my inboxes unless I turn the phone off and back on. Refreshing inbox doesnt work. Whats the deal? I went to bed at midnight. Woke up at 6am to no emails on the Fascinate. Pick up the Tab and it has 7 emails. This wouldnt be a huge deal if I used the Tab non-stop but I dont. The phone HAS to get emails and in a decent timely manor. I know it isnt my email settings. I just went through them all on the DX and they match up perfectly. Any ideas? Thanks.

well lets start from the begining. have you rooted yet? what rom? what email app? what email provider? pop or imap?

No I havent rooted this one. I was planning on just leaving it stock until the powers that be at VZW decide to hand down the FROYO wand as OTA. Im using the built in email app that came with the phone. Email addys are Metrocast (pop) and Yahoo. I just downloaded MailDroid after sitting here for the past hour trying to figure something out. Havent set it up yet. Figured its worth a shot. If that doesnt work Ill try K-9 although I didnt read too many great things about it. Im also all of a sudden having a network error when not on Wifi but thats totally different so Ill post about that in another thread.

metrocast? is that your cable provider? can you set me up with an email addy? i will see how it runs on my phone.

Yes its my cable. Im at my limit for accounts so I cant set up a dummy account unfortunately. Its Yahoo too though so it definitely isnt something with just the pop accounts.

I just noticed that my feeds and updates widget isnt updated either since last night at midnight even though I have it set to update every 30 mins. Is the phone somehow falling asleep with a certain amount of inactivity and then not waking back up? Something that would prevent email/status updates but still allow calls/texts? I dont see anything like that in a setting though.

The stock email app has never been that great... I use K-9 myself, and have had no issues with it pulling my Hotmail.

Another suggestion is routing your Yahoo and Metrocast email through Gmail. This will give you the same results as having a "unified" inbox, and should push instantly to your phone.

+1 for K-9 Mail.

I had a couple of email addresses that weren't coming across properly with the default email app, so I tried MailDroid and K-9 Mail. Both work very well, and seem to be updated quite regularly. I ended up sticking with K-9 Mail for now since it has the ability to print emails (via Printer Share). Whichever one you choose, definitely look at using something other than the default app.

hey, thats a good idea. i didnt even think of that. forward each email account to a gmail account. if you wanted an in box for each, create a gmail account for each.

heck i dont even use my cable provider email. i just use email.

oh, have you tried setting them up imap?

+1 for this as well. gmail comes through instantly whenever I get it, but never for yahoo on my phone. you can set up gmail to grab your yahoo/metrocast mail just as Kevin said.

and congrats Kevin! I actually thought you were a mod for a long time already

Gmail is an option but not one I love. Dont know why but I cant stand it. Thats another topic all together though.

So I set up MailDroid and I sent out test mails from my comp. It came instantly to Google (I still hate it though! LOL) and it actually came instantly to Yahoo as well. And I replied back using both from the phone perfectly. But I have yet to see it to either of my Metrocast pop accounts. Ive never had a problem with Metrocast before on my DX, PalmOS, WebOS or BB phones. For some reason the Fascinate hates Metrocast lol. So Im not touching the phone for 5 more mins. I sent the emails about 10 mins ago and have it set to fetch every 5 mins but figure Ill give it 10 extra mins for good measure. If nothing by then Ill try K-9 I guess. After that I dont know lol. Thanks for all the help and even though I dont know you personally congrats to Kevin! This is by far the most helpful phone forum Ive ever been on.

Can you set up your metrocast account imap?

Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk

Ok first I have no idea what that means and second I dont have a clue how lol. Im sorry!

The first test emails didnt come until I went into MailDroid and then they came instantly. I sent out a second batch and those came right away as did some emails I just got a little bit ago. I cleared the notification and went to open MailDroid and it kept just closing and going back to my homepage and then I got that network error. Happened about 10 times. Then it opened. Im gonna see how it goes for the rest of the day I think.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate it. I hope to continue helping as best I can.

Glad you're able to (somewhat) get your issue resolved, Melissa!

I use the stock email for my corporate Exchange account and it works fine all day, but I never have any emails in the morning. I work for a European company, so I know my inbox should be full by the time I wake up. I just hit "refresh" and it grabs them and works correctly all day again - it's part of my morning routine (until it starts working like it should).

I've been using K-9 with an IMAP account for a few weeks now and it's been absolutely flawless.

imap is a different way of interfacing your email client with the email server. check your providers help section on how to set up imap. its a more efficient way for the client to work. many providers in the next 5 years will be dropping pop support.

if you don't want to set up more than one Gmail account you can just filter your multiple email addys by using Gmail Labels - very, very simple and efficient. it's how i manage my umpteen email addys.

IMO Gmail is the way to go (based on what i've read on AC, K9 is a popular solution too) when using an Android phone - if you don't you are just shooting yourself in the foot, which really really hurts. A lot. :'(

Say it with me now: Stock email - BAAAAAAD. Gmail - GOOOOOOD. :):):)
