So i want to get a new phone before college, but I'm in a weird situation. My little brother got my upgrade getting an iPhone 5. Well he's in boarding school now, so my mom paid to terminate his plan. However, my upgrade still isn't until 12/2014. So my question is: would there be a chance of getting an early upgrade, or should i just pay full price? Also is there anywhere to get deals on new phones outside of the Verizon store?

I doubt there is any chance you are getting an upgrade on an account that was upgraded 6 months ago. Either pay full price or check out Swappa.

You can do the etf method. For example, buy the dna for free on a new line of service then pay etf of $350 and one days service of $5. Basically you can get the dna for $355

I'd double check on that. I vaguely remember that somewhere in their T&A, it states if you cancel service after the 14 day trial period and within 30 days, you are required to return the device and pay the ETF.

If that's the case, you could get the Dna free on contract with a new line, activate a basic or dummy phone on the new line and then activate the Dna back onto your line. You'd probably have to pay an extra $12-$15 for that month. After 30 days you could go ahead and pay the ETF ($350 - $10 for each month of service) or continue to pay $10 plus taxes/fees for the entirety of the contract.

I didn't see where it required you to return it, only if you don't return it, that you would have to pay etf

But there's no chance of something like a RAZR M or GS3?

The likelihood of Verizon pushing your upgrade date 18 months is very slim . There is always ebay and cl. Or cowboom has the gs3 used fit $305. If you want the full warranty, get verizon cpo for around $400.

But at that price, the dna was the better deal, imo

Alright, I will see what's available used first. Thanks
