New Phone Pixel 2 - two questions

Hello everyone I am a new user of a Google Phone. In the past i used Samsung Smartphones. When I got the Pixel 2 this morning he asked for a Gmail account. I guess this is something new at Verizon? But Google had me change all of my passwords this past month for security reasons so all of my gmail accounts I had no clue what my passwords were and I didn't want to guess for fear of being locked out. So the guy created a new account but I don't need it. I already have four accounts. So can I change this out? Or am I stuck with it? I checked to see it had an area to update i believe it said, but I want to fully change it out to a new email account I use.

The other thing I need to know is that I have a sound file I have used in the past for numbers not in my contacts. Can I add this to my sounds folder on the Pixel 2? It is a mp3 but i can change the file type to any sound file type i need for Pixel 2 if I can use it.

If this were me, I'd recover the password for the account you want to use, factory reset the device and start over with the recovered account. Well, if this were really me, I'd never let a stranger create an account on what is my most personal device. I didn't know carrier employees did this. Did he create your username and password? If so, that's a bunch of BS.

As far as the ringtone thing - sorry I'm not sure about how to do this. Google should be able to help.

Open up Settings -> Storage -> Files -> Ringtones - that's where your mp3 goes.

Yup you got it! He created the account. So even more reason to change it. It's a first for me as well. Doesn't sit well with me either.

Do I attach to my computer or can I do this wireless? I am thinking hookup to computer? Also do I need to eject application/phone before unplugging from computer?

Your old phone should already connected to Google account and you should backup to your Google account. So, first, you need to recover your Google account password. Do a backup on your old phone. Then on the new Pixel, do a factory reset to clear out the account the Verizon guy set up for you. Then do a new setup using your own Google account. It will ask you if you want to restore from your old phone. BTW, it also ask you if you want to transfer data from old phone to new phone using cable and the adapter provided. Transfer using cable is the best because it can transfer all app and data. But if you have to restore from Google than it will restore your settings (including WiFi passwords) and apps.

Beware - if you change the password on a Google account you need to wait at least 24 hours before using that account to configure a device.

UPDATE: Hellow everyone I was able to change out the email account and now i am humming along. Thanks again for your help.

I was reading through this post to see if everything worked out for you - so glad it has! How are you liking the Pixel 2, and did you get the 2 or 2 XL?

I got the 2 and not the XL when I chose I wasn't sure I chose the best of the two. But I really like the Pixel 2 so far. The only thing I haven't tried out yet is the camera outdoors.

The regular Pixel 2 is an awesome device! And I'm sure you'll enjoy your outdoor photos as well! :)
