Meet the tiny, Florida-based phone maker that thinks it can beat Samsung | The Verge

I think we, specifically Android Central should support the small guy trying to make premium phones in this crazy environment. I'm surprised there is no news, articles or forum for Blu phones at AC?!?

Some of the specs:

  • Solid Aluminium Body
  • 5 inch IPS display w/ Gorilla Glass
  • 13-megapixel camera
  • SD Card Slot
  • Stock Android 4.2!
  • Unlocked Dual Active Sim card
  • 1.2 Quad-core processor
  • $299

They also have a 5.7inch display unit.

Come on let's support Blu Phones!

Looks like a combo of the S3 in the front and HTC One on the back. I like it but I'm sure the haters will hate.

I'd seriously consider it if the buttons matched Nexus. This doesn't look like stock Android

Im sure this device will be able to run custom roms that you can add software buttons if you wish
I hope they can be hidden like on the Galaxy line.
I'm sure they will sell many phones if the HW is top notch. I just personally will not buy a phone that doesn't match button layout on my Nexus 7 and 10

Wow I never even heard of these guys, TYVM OP! Getting those specs for $300? I'll be getting one of these instead of a Samsung or HTC for sure! You just made my day :)

Bigger question not answered in the article is the battery. What size? Also why not on screen buttons? Also lose the 13 megs on the back, looks bad. Other than that it sounds good, hopefully they can make it happen.

If this phone delivers on all its promises, it's biggest trouble will be getting the word out about it. It will have to rely on the net to spread the word. In the us it will be a hard sale to the masses just because of the way the carriers have construed the market. Here's to hoping it will succeed and change things though. Heck I will look into one next fall if it works out well.

O and every difference from the nexus line will be ridiculed mercilessly just because it's different...

Love it. Keep em coming. The key factor will be how it performs. I've been saying for a while that if someone would create a stock android phone that is cheaper they could dig in to a niche market quite easily. There are very few options if you want the latest OS updates. This phone along with the crazy low price could do well. Especially for people buying phones for their kids. In Canada we have 3 year contracts which makes it brutally expensive. Your phone is dead after 2 years so you have to buy out the remaining part of your contract and renew. The Nexus 4 and these lower cost premium phones could be a game changer if the look good and perform well.

Why this when for 50$ more you get a Nexus 4?
Looks good with the exception of the 1.2 quad-core.

Your right, choice is bad. Google should go to the Apple model and only run one model of phone, since it is obviously perfect for everybody.

I would choose this over a Nexus 4 for two reasons:
1. I won't buy a phone that is either over 4.3" (the biggest I can comfortably use with one hand) or under 5" (the smallest screen I'm willing to have if I can't use the phone with one hand)
2. I could have a new phone AND dinner and a movie out with my wife for the same price as just getting a new phone.

That said, I won't buy any phone that doesn't have LTE, so I won't be getting a Blu phone (though I am very tempted).

According to Engadget, the One will have a 2000mAh battery and the View will be 2600

I would never buy this over a Nexus, but if these companies look to incorporate LTE, removable battery and an SD card it could be a great option for many.
