I bought a Pixel 3a this week and ao far the phone is updated only with the March 2019 updates. Will the phone get updated with May's updates?

They are supposed to release may, April and June's security patches sometime this month.

Thank you :)

Here's the quote from the article:
"Update 5/10: Google has confirmed to 9to5Google that the Pixel 3a will be getting an update to combine the April, May, and June security patches together on June 3rd. That’s quite a ways away, but Google says this is to “ensure the best customer experience.” Further, the company said that the pre-loaded software is based on the manufacturing schedule."

This is actually how Google normally does things with Pixel phones, when released the phone has the OS/security updates from when the phone went into production. They then wait until the next month's security update to push the "missed" monthly security updates to the new phones. The security update should be released, as the article states, early next week.

Also, the Android Q beta is not yet available for the 3A, that should also be available after the next Android Q beta -- when a beta image is made for the 3A/XL; likely in mid-June.

It'll be updated coming Monday and every month from there onwards (first Monday of every month).

It's common with Pixel devices they launch with some security patch and only be updated to the latest patch from following month of release. So nothing to worry it's normal.

The updates are available - for the 3a, go to https://developers.google.com/android/ota#sargo. (If you're not into unlocking bootloaders, you can still sideload the update from recovery. Or you can wait until the phone gets updated (which could be anywhere from today to a few weeks from now - updates are staged.

(Just a few functionality fixes this month - no security patches. Google | Pixel Update Bulletins)

I’m not seeing it on my 3a XL yet. I assume they’re rolling out in batches.

I bought mine at a T-Mobile store. Is the firmware identical to those purchased directly from Google?

I received it this morning (and assume it was available some time during the overnight hours, too).
