Hi everyone,

I've only had my new phone for two weeks and this has been happening from the start:

  • Wifi drops out on home network (vodafone wifi), it might be every 20 minutes, 10 minutes or I might use it for ages and it's fine. Multiple other devices, including Samsung tablet and Samsung older phone are fine, no connectivity problems ever over 2 years we've had this router. So I thought it was the phone (we don't have Wifi-6, I read that is a potential issue). When it drops out on my phone, other devices are still working fine.
  • I've followed various advice, including samsung troubleshooting, and have now done a factory reset, but it still happens
  • I have tried the phone on a different wifi network (at my work), and it's been playing youtube videos from the wifi (I turned mobile data off) for the past nearly 4 hours with no problems.

So it seems to be a combination of wifi and phone incompatibility and I'm stuck. If I send the phone back to Samsung, I don't want to be charged as they might tell me it doesn't have a problem because it's working on their wifi.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Probably dumb question: Are you sure your home wifi is solid?
And is your WiFi on the S23FE set as DHCP? (To make sure it does not have the same IP as something else on your home network)

Hi, thanks so much for the reply. Yep our wifi is solid. My partner and I both work from home a lot and often we're both on video calls at the same time and it's always been perfect quality. Our Netflix/Prime also works through Wifi and again, no problems. This has been the first time I've ever had trouble.
The phone is also set to DHCP - one of the things I read was to change DHCP to static (which didn't do anything and so I changed it back).

There is/was an issue with Wifi 6 and Samsung phones on One UI 6. It was supposedly fixed. But, you could try disabling wifi 6 on your router and see if that fixes it. You would have to refer to the manual for your specific router to find directions on how to do this.

Others have reported that changing to the "phone mac" as opposed to the randomized mac has resolved their issues:
Settings > Conections > Wifi (tap the word and NOT the radio button" > Select the gear icon for the wifi network which you experienced the dropped issue > Click view more > Mac address type > switch to Phone Mac

Try rebooting the router they need that once in awhile even though other devices connect no issue.

Check in settings>modes and routine see like focus or anything else is on

Would you be able to get a new router? If it's a problem with lack of WiFi 6, almost all current phones support it, so even if you return this one anything else might have the same problem.

Hello Guys,

I have the same issue with my samsung A70s. It works fine with my office wifi. but with home wifi, it frequently disconnects and connects only on my phone.

But Apparently, it stays connected with other phones, laptops, and TV at home.

problem is with my phone only.

Welcome to Android Central! Did you try rebooting your router, as suggested above? To reboot, simply unplug its power for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and wait for the network to reestablish.

Have you also checked the DHCP range in your router's settings to make sure it's wide enough? The default is typically 255 addresses, but sometimes people might narrow it down for some reason.

On any computer that's connected successfully to your network, type 192.168.1.1 in the URL bar, and see if you get the router's login screen. If so, then use "admin" as the username and "password" as the password. If that gets you to the settings menu, look for the DHCP settings there.

I got the info about how to log into the router from this site: https://www.airtel.in/blog/broadband/use-ip-address-to-login-to-router-settings/

No, look for the DHCP address range, and make sure it's pretty wide (the default should be a range of 255 addresses).

I don't think Samsung would charge you because your phone is still under warranty. Maybe they could provide you with some suggestions. Maybe call Samsung first. I am very satisfied with my Samsung S24 Plus after I sorted out a few problems.
