US carriers disable tablet calling circuit and phone app
I just upgraded from my smartphone to a tablet since I don't make to many calls or texts, but I was told I could with this tablet. Verizon hasn't been any help, as I can't recieve any calls or texts. All the information I am finding says that my tablet has to be connected to a smartphone in order to recieve calls and texts. Is there a way, since I got rid of my phone and put the tablet on my phone line, to use my tablet to get calls and texts without having to purchase another line/phone?
That's exactly the intention. Verizon wants you to have yet another line and monthly cost.
I've been using my tablet as phones for nearly 6 years now. Across all Samsung note 10.1, tab s through tab s3 (haven't upgraded to s4 yet). Before you laugh, I use my Bluetooth and even have a Bluetooth that looks like a tiny phone. I only have one phone plan, not two.
I'm the enemy of usa carriers like Verizon.
The way to do it, is to buy your 4g or lte tablets from international sources, before your carrier disables the circuit as a condition for them to sell or import it into the US. Then when you activate them here, you can make calls.
When you import your tablet this way, the "deactivate calling and texting if you use a phone SIM" would also fail to disable, since the carriers cannot identify international imei.
I'll still trying to locate an international tab s4 to make calls and text with.
If anyone here knows a source let me know.
