I'm a huge fan of the current Incredible's screen size. It's perfect. I'm not a fan of all the phones coming out with larger screens a la Evo.

I would have thought that if they continued the Incredible line, they wouldn't mess with its form factor. Guess I was wrong.

I'm guessing my next phone won't be an Incredible; which is a shame since I absolutely love mine.

Doesn't bother me as I'm a fan of larger screens but I agree they should leave the next generation of older phone models with the same screen size. HTC already has a new 4" phone with the Thunderbolt. The specs on the new Inc do look very nice though.

Right not diggin the 4 inch..3.7 is perfect for me bigger than the iphone and alot smaller than the thunderbolt...Does anyone know the processor specs in the S? I saw 1Ghz but the actually processor model number I didn't see yet.

I could of sworn the article said 1.5ghz earlier before. It must have been a typo that AC changed because now it says 1ghz..

EDIT: never mind.... it was the HTC Flyer tab with the 1.5. With all this new news its hard to keep focused.:p

I personally feel that a 4" screen is a happy medium. The 3.7" is nice (don't get me wrong) and I think the 4.3" is too big...

The 4" screen is the perfect size because good hardware design and manufacturing should be able to keep a similar device profile to 3.7" devices.

Yeah I've had the Nexus One for over a year now and am ready for a screen size upgrade...4.0 imo is not too small but not too big either

I also prefer a 4 inch screen 3.7 is just a tab bit to small for me 4.3 well I guess it depends I find the dx to tall while the evo is fine

I have the DInc now and 4.0" doesn't seem like it would be that bad of an upgrade, think about future things that you could do like movie watching, more space for dual touchscreen control games and quite possible better sized image reading for books and websites. I'm not trying to have a laptop in my pocket, but 0.3 inches isn't that crazy of a bump up!

.

Easy solution to your problem... you don't have to buy it then. They are not catering to one persons likes and needs. The future is big screens... it use to be the HD 2 and Evo now there are lots of 4.3" screen phones.

I third the 4'' being a happy medium. Couple of buddys have the evo an one has a DInc, Id like a bigger screen but not really 4.3". To bad no LTE an 8 gb internals

I thought 3.7 was perfect untill I got a 4 inch phone. So much better. The phone is still small, im telling you, you will like it ♥

Having both the Incredible and the Fascinate, the 4inch screen is a very good size.

4 is perfect for a daily device. For the average person 4.3 is too large, and for me/my typing, the 3.7 is too small. So i like the 4

too bad the rest of the device is nothing to be excited for

Really? You aren't gonna get it because the screen is three tenths of an inch larger?

Call me crazy, but I'm one of those who finds Form Factor to be a significant influence on device selection.

And believe it or not, that 3/10ths of an inch is a somewhat significant change in size. When using your device as an actual phone, a larger device is less comfortable to use. Not due to added weight so much as natural fit to the grip in your hand, placement against your ear/cheek etc.

When using the screen on your device, screen size can also affect comfort of reading. On two different size screens with similar resolution, the larger screen size will be less comfortable to read as there is more eye movement, and more effort to focus, than on a smaller screen (this is based on the assumption that the smaller screen isn't so small that text is so small it's outside of your comfortable vision range, but I have exceptional vision so it's moot). As an example... This portion of this sentence is more comfortable to read, compared to reading this portion of the sentence. Yes that example is a bit extreme in comparative size, but when you read a lot of text on your screen, small changes can be uncomfortable.

Sure the Incredible S is going with a 4" screen vs the 4.5" of other new phones. I just found the 3.7" to be a perfect fit.

Form factor is a pretty big deal to me as well. I nearly got a Fascinate off the strength of that one attribute alone. One of the things I dig about my DX screen is that although its 4.3 inches, it has a 16:9 ratio, so its not too wide to hold. Its actually the perfect size for such a ratio, IMO. The 16:9 ratio on the D1 and D2 3.7 inch screens make them too narrow.

For those writing it off already...
why not wait till some specs get released on the phone's actual dimensions? t's probably not much bigger than your DINC.

do you understand how small .3" is? not to mention, that number is diagonal!

Yes, I am well aware that it's only .3" on the diagonal. And if you do the math (using the Pythagorean thereom) you will discover that there's a potential growth of just under .5" in height or width. More than likely it'll be a .25" grown in either dimension, and if you hold a ruler up to your current 3.7" display you will see how significant that actually is.
