i just got a new memory card and i want to do it right now, but i wanna clean up what i have on the old one also. so before i install it:

1-should i let the phone format it or use windows and make it FAT32 (for unrooting purposes if needed)

2-i'm unsure about junk folders i have some in there that are empty or have like a couple of small files in them but that could be from old apps that made folders

3-now if i do that will the phone replace the folders that arent needed?

4-are the only system folders that can crash the phone kept on the internal memory?

I cannot speak to anyone else's experience. I bought a 16 GB, class 4 card. I turned off my phone and removed the microSD card. After I plugged it into the adapter, I put it in my computer and copied it to a folder on the desktop. I then took out the adapter, removed the 2 GB microSD card, then inserted the 16 GB card and put the adapter back in the computer. I copied the contents of the folder into the new SD card, removed the adapter and took the brand new microSD card out of the adapter. I replaced the new microSD card in the phone and all was well.

I did have to reset some notification sounds, so if anyone has a suggestion about that, it would be appreciated before I move up to a 32 GB microSD card.

YMMV
