OK, my son has a new SD for his Samsung Epic and wants to give me the old SD from it since it is a 16 GB and the EVO only has an 8 GB. Can I do that? If so how would I go about the swap? Could I just pop in the 16 GB to my EVO and it'll do the rest? Please help....

The first question I would asked you is ?> Does it fit into the slot of your Evo? I would assume that if it fits - then you're good to go. They're both SD cards.

So long as it is a microSD card, you should be good.

Your phone doesn't *need* the microSD card to run, but it does need it to store pictures, music files, and if you use "Move to SD" in the application settings, those program links will be broken until the card with the appropriate data is installed.

I would suggest copying your existing microSD card to a folder on your computer, formatting the 16gb card, and then copying the contents of the old microSD card over to the new one.

If you just format the new one and start from there, the worst thing that will happen is that you may have to re-install some apps.

So there's no "Epic" stuff that needs to be deleted first? I just remember with my Hero there were files that were needed to run the hero on the SD card and didn't know if the same applied to the EVO and Epic. As far as stored apps on the EVO 8 GB I can just move the 3 I stored to SD back to the phone before I take the 8 gb card out and then insert the 16GB one in as long as theres no music and such from the 8 GB I wanted to keep? Thanks for your help....

Moving the apps back to the phone should take care of you.

Enjoy your extra file space!

Yes, they are the same microSD card.

Use USB Disk Drive Mode to copy everything that is on your current microSD card to your PC. Otherwise you will lose files, music, photos, and data stored on your microSD card. Eject the EVO from the PC using Windows Explorer. Dismount the microSD Card, Menu > Settings...

Long-press the OFF button and turn the EVO fully off.

Remove the microSD card from under the battery. Put in the Epic microSD card, but the battery back in, and turn it on. Use USB Disk Drive Mode to delete everything on the new (Epic) microSD card. Copy the files you saved on your PC to the new microSD card. Eject the EVO.
