Hi guys,

I'm a new SGS2 user, switched from iPhone 4. Loving the phone so far and the flexibility of Android Gingerbread.

But my only beef so far is the battery life. I'm losing around 15% battery on an average per hour.
I've turned off the following:
GPS
WIFI
Bluetooth
Vibrate (Everything)

The Display is on Auto.

Since this is my business phone, i need juice on the phone 24/7 or atleast till my day ends, which would be around 7:00 pm.

As of now, the phone was unplugged at 6:30 am and the battery is at 66% (10:45 am). And to be honest I've had a few calls, checked Twitter couple of times, checked Facebook once, watched 1 youtube video on 3G.

So I'll really appreciate if you guys could shed some light on how to save some battery on a daily basis.

Oh btw I'm rooted. :p
Thanks.

Rooted and running what ROM? Something is very wrong. In all likelihood you have a process running that is preventing the phone from sleeping.

Im running stock ROM. You think its the 3G network?

What version you running? 2.3.3 is known for drastic battery drain on this. I've since updated to 2.3.4 and seen the opposite.

If anything, turn Auto-brightness off.

Here's a snapshot of moderate use(same settings as you've stated, albeit using wifi now and then):

Where can i get hold that ROM? And would appreciate if you could also shed some light on the whole process?

It's stock, updated over Kies, branded ThreeUK.

But you can also find stock/basic ROMS/Kernels on such websites like XDAdevelopers if you can't wait;

[ROM+Guide]Official i9100 Firmwares KG1/2/3/5/6/7, KH1/2/3/4, KI1/2/3/4/8 Download - xda-developers

Details of what I have:

Android version: 2.3.4

PDA: KI4
Phone: KI1
CSC: KI1 (H3G)

And which process do you mean?

The process of how to load a new ROM on to the phone. I'm coming from an iTunes environment to this open source, so a little bit confused.

The instructions are in the link above, but for a quick sample:

1. Just download the firmware version you want from the second or third posts and extract the .tar file in the archive and save it somewhere

2. Reboot your phone to download mode.

To get download mode shut down the device. After it shuts off completely simultaneously press the Down volume key+ Home button + press the power button .

You should see a warning asking you to press volume up if you want to continue or volume down to cancel, press volume up. You are now in download mode!

3. Start Odin

4. Click on the PDA button and browse to the .tar file that you extracted in step 1

5. DO NOT PUT .PIT FILE AND DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT TICK REPARTITION.

6. Connect the USB cable and wait for the ID:COM section to turn yellow

7. Click start to flash

8. Do not disconnect the cable or turn off the device, it will reboot when it finishes.

It will not wipe your phone if you flash as recommended

You will lose root so just re-root with the guide below

^ follow the root guide that follows.

Is this guide useful if my phone is NOT rooted? And I want to flash, lets say CyanogenMod?
