I'm on T-Mobile towers via Mint Mobile. I just noticed a new icon appearing in the signal area of the display. It now says 5Guc. Googling it says this is T-Mobiles' ultra capacity network, which is a combination of high and/or mid-band frequencies. This is nothing different than what I connected to before. Apparently they wanted to differentiate between this and their extended range 5G. There wasn't any measurable speed difference from before. So this is only cosmetic.
That said, I looked at their coverage map and the amount of coverage they now have for their mid and higher frequencies is impressive. Areas that were barely covered by low band signals a couple years ago now have wall to wall mid and high band coverage.
