new stuff in the game

new things I have noticed since 1.22 and 1.23.3:

we can now pick up portal keys and xmp bursters from the ground near portals - has anyone picked up anything else?

sometime portals glow with a large globe around the portal - does anyone know what it signifies?

Powercubes - I have seen pictures but have not seen one in the game. What are they and what do they do?

I think the answers would be helpful for many...

Portal keys tend to drop when a link decays or is destroyed. XMP is probably dropped by another player.

The large globe is a shield, means the portal will be more resistant to damage.

A power cube is a one-time-use reserve of xm. I haven't gotten one yet either.

Anyone ever get any passcodes? I wouldn't know one if I saw it, never mind how to decode it. Is there a wiki or something?

Pass codes are codes you need to figure out using the information released in the investigation pages. They are typically used up within minutes, there are communities on the web devoted to decoding passcodes.

Recycling is destroying an item for a small XM boost, be carful with park keys because the recycle button is where the "OK" button used to be and there is no confirmation before it gets destroyed.
