i just got my android phone two days ago thought a task manager was the best bet but read else where might not even be needed. im using advance task killer and ive noticed that when i go in to manually kill some apps it has apps open i havent even been in like at&t navigation and crap like that. is this task killer really working and if so why is it saying ive been in those when i havnt. should i just get rid of the task killer all together and if i do how do i close apps when im finished with them?

Lots of the AT&T (and other) apps are loaded into the background at startup, but they're idle.

You don't *need* a task killer. Android memory management is pretty good, the risk of using a task killer is the likelihood of causing problems (i.e. killing programs that should be running in the background for your convenience, like email).

Task killer(s) were written to enable people to completely kill applications. By default the OS stops the program and pushes it into background.

Hope this helps,

AoN

ok but how do i close say like the internet when im done? and why would it say i have att navi running when i have never opened it? i also downloaded battery booster it says it has a task manager in it should i delete it and advance task killer. i like how the battery booster shows what the % is on the battery is there an app that does just that? and wow i just got finished charging my phone to 100 and in less than a min even 30 secs maybe it dropped to 94

You don't need to close the web browser - when you're done and you leave it, it hibernates until you use it again. But if you're really dead-set on using a task killer (although most advise against it), don't have it set to any type of auto-kill, only kill things off manually.

As for battery percent, there are many apps that can do this. If you want the battery percent in your notification bar, use something like Battery Indicator. Is you want a widget on your home screen, use something like Quick Battery.

thanks ill take a look. is there anything that really helps save battery as far as being an app for it? and why is it dropping right after i unplug the charger

A lot of people use Juice Defender to help increase their battery life.

Battery percentage dropping after you unplug is a common problem - if you want to get to 100%, you have to unplug/replug and let it charge a few times to gain those extra few percent.

It isn't a task killer - it just turns off your connections when they aren't in use. Search the Market for "Juice Defender".

ya i got that then got a battery indicator and it said i had a task defender and for me to turn it off or on a whitelist or whatever. is the free one ok or should i pay the 5 bucks for it?

If all you want is it to show battery percent, then the free version is fine. The Pro version just has some extra features.
