new to android - few questions.....

i have recently got a new shiny htc one x and i love it !!!
i have been with blackberry for the past 4 years and boy do i regret that!!

have few questions ...

* why is there no NEW section in the google play store? - how supposed to see whats new each day?

* the SYNC option i guess controls the push notifications - this seems to be down a lot for me, or is delayed or not working right... this common?

* why dont icons have a notification like the email and text icon? this would be helpful! espec for games like draw something, even g+ doesnt have it..

* landscape keyboard is annoying as i always press the full stop key instead of the space bar and it is too far over to the left

other than that i love my new device!! apps, games, browsing are all awesome

First of all, welcome to Android!

I will take a crack at a few of the questions you asked :

If you don't like the landscape keyboard on Sense 4 you can always download a third party one from the Google Play Store, SwiftKey is one of the best in my opinion. Give a few a spin to see what suits you the best.

Some apps do not provide notifications from the start so that totally means you won't see anything from that app if any activity happens. For the rest you can always see the notifications from the drop down notifications menu (push down the top bar of the OS.

Trust me, you don't want this. With the number of launcher themes and keyboard skins and spam apps (unfortunately), a "new" section would be a friggin mess.

Now a curated "new" section ...

Notifications should be controlled at the app level, not at the OS level. Check app settings.

Notifications all go in the notification bar, not as badges on icons.

Darn these newfangled big phones! Either flip it back to portrait, or try a different keyboard.

yeah i guess there are loads of apps being added every day but think some kind of new section would be good, or you just see the same old apps in top chart all the time...

coming from blackberry the notifications is one thing i think BB does better, as i like the new message badge on every icon, can be cluttered at times but you can miss stuff if just at the top..

and yeah my hands are small and phone is huge lol - ill try some other keyboards
