New to Android have a power question

Just got the MyTouch 4g and its awesome. But I don't know how to fully turn off the phone. I am coming from a BB and you would just hit the turn off icon. I have done searches and the only thing I come up with is to turn off Fast boot.

I hit the button on the top left of the phone and the screen goes black, but it seems like it is just in power save mode. Is this all I can do or do I need to take the battery out every night?

I have searched the phone and do not see any "turn off" button/icon.

Hold down the power button and you will get a menu. Power off is an option. If you disable fastboot it will take longer to restart. Fastboot is like hibernation on a computer. It doesn't fully shut down which is what let's it start up so fast.
