New to Android

Hi everybody. I'm new to Android having just purchased a new Hero a few weeks ago. Now I want to upgrade it to 2.1 and have questions. I've done a bit of reading about the different ROM choices and have actually downloaded a few to try. Last night I successfully rooted the phone, and copied flashrec, recovery-RA-1.3.2 and a couple of ROMs to my sdcard. Tonight I'm going to try to boot to a new ROM, but first have a question. I've read about copying the new ROM image to the SDCARD. The ROM images I've downloaded are all zipped and I'm just wondering; is there anything I need to do first to prepare the ROM before copying to the sdcard?

Nope leave it as a zip file and put it on your sdcard thats it.
