new to android!

hey everyone, new to Android devices but not technology. i work in data center operations and have done tech support (both for desktops and servers, linux and windows) for the past 14 years and for 12 years before that as an electronics technician in the US Navy

looking for a sub $200 device (leaning towards the Kindle Fire, but can be swayed) that won't be out dated in 6 months

looking forward to the discussions and sharing what i learn from whatever device i end up getting!

Welcome to the Android Central forums. The Kindle Fire looks to be a nice device and I pre-ordered one on the first day. It really is geared to Amazon Prime subscribers but if turns out the device is easy to root, it will have a lot of potential. The hackability of the Nook certainly made it popular with those who like modding their devices.
