So I just got this phone too. Coming from an iPhone 3g.........I'm not impressed. It is a beautiful phone and the display is great but the on screen keyboard is horrible and to me the whole operating system seems thrown together. I really want to like it because of the customization abilities that you can't get on the iPhone.....any suggestions?

Welcome.
I don't necessary suggest rooting your new device, but in your case this seems like a good choice for you. Im using a HTC EVO phone and I love everything about it. You'll be able to customize the phone to how you want it.

Search the forums on how to root your device.

how did u debrand your phone? i'm also using att xperia x10a and i have no clue what to do. i'm not a technical guy to do this so i'm still researching how... if u have time please send me a message or post it here. tnx..
 
I'd suggesting rooting and installing Android 2.2. Why debrand if you can do more than that?

As for keyboard typing, I've never had a problem since I bought Swift Key Keyboard. It learns your typing style by "reading" your SMS' and emails and therefore comes up with an excellent prediction system!
