hey guys i just got out of the stone age with my old phone and upgraded to the thunderbolt. I was in the middle of getting the iphone and did alot of research and came up with the thunderbolt is so much better in alot of ways. Here are some problems i am having the battery life is not that good so far within 4 hours of not using my phone it was completely charged it was down to 10% battery life. Since i am new with the phone i didnt know you had to close all the apps out. Also today i am trying to see how long i can go with the 4G turned off with the form i read on here. is there anything else that can help besides buying the big battery that makes the phone look bulky.

First, there is no real way of closing an app, unlike a Blackberry... just using the Home button, or the Return button will allow the OS to close the app when it wants to.

Next, know your apps... things like Facebook, FriendStream, any Weather app... and how often they poll for data... these are the most important part of getting good battery life... at least IMHO.

do any of the battery saving apps work in the market like juice defender? this is my first android and im still trying to get the hang of some things. The battery life is the biggest problem for me.

Personally, I don't use any of these app... they might save battery, but just let the OS do it's thing... I have a charger at home, work and in my car... I usually don't charge it in my car unless I'm on a long car trip (just never found the need, but it's nice to have).

i use facebook a good bit but other than the battery this phone rocks i get 4G everywhere i go in my area in maryland. But it seems like you cant go without 4hours away from a charger when using the phone which is a turn off

To expand on saving energy via screen use, I made my background screen black, which then prevents any use of light for the background. Since the screen is large, you'll save a lot of energy. I've noticed a slight difference in power use after making the switch.

I also like the black screen as the icons for apps really stick out.

The battery for the TB is my only gripe, as the TB is an awesome phone.

Also, make sure that if you're not using blue tooth, wifi, gps, that you turn off those features.

Wifi use's less energy than 3g/4g, I havent seen any battery issue's with GPS, and Blue Tooth will drain battery
