"New"-to-me phone, need to figure out what I have & what I can do with it

I just moved from my Samsung S4 to a LG G3 so I could have more storage, more RAM, faster processor, etc., AND to get Marshmallow sooner than next fall. The phone is of course not new, but when I got it, there was no update option for the OS. I found SuperSU version 2.65 on it, and a little bit of research has led me to think that my phone was rooted at some point.

I don't get to post screenshots yet, so here's the relevant info:

Welcome to Android Central.

If it's rooted, you'll have to unroot it and flash the appropriate stock ROM in order to update to Marshmallow OTA.

I haven't dealt much with custom configurations other than learning I will probably want to get into it (I tinker with everything else, so why not my phone?), so please pardon my ignorance.
-Do I actually have a rooted phone?
-Is there no custom version of Marshmallow for the Verizon G3? I don't want all the bloat ware.
-How do I unroot the phone so that I can go back and root it again?

OK, so it looks like I already have TWRP 2.8.5.1 on my phone, and with SuperSU v2.65 that is on it, would it be easier for me to unroot the phone, use the PC to update to Verizon's version of Marshmallow (now 47A, I think), and then root it again? I found this on how to root a Marshmallow G3, so it should be possible. I just don't know if I have the right version of software on my phone currently to upgrade to a stock Marshmallow (everything I'm reading seems to say I need a different bootstack in order to put Marshmallow on here -- whatever that is. I can't seem to find anything that defines a bootstack). Since I mainly want root to cherry pick individual permissions for apps (which I think Marshmallow allows?), get rid of bloatware, and some battery management apps that require root, do I really even need it?

You don't. You're running an older version of this custom firmware:
[ROM] [OCT14] SkyDragon G3 VS985 | LMY47V.VS… | Verizon LG G3

That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it means to go back to the stock firmware you'll need to physically flash the device using a tool on your computer.

Hopefully someone more familiar with the Verizon G3 will drop in and assist. If not, Try making another post asking how to go back to stock.
