This took some work for me since I haven't Play Music for years now. I was used to my OEM music players or 3rd party apps generating album art for me on my music collection so I was unpleasantly surprised when I xfer'd all my MP3's to the phone from my PC and noticed many of my older files from a couple years ago were missing album art :-\
I'm just posting this for others who are as OCD as I am when it comes to album art because I found a working, albeit tedious solution. I installed a windows program called MP3tag and used it to download new metadata for each song. Took me a couple of hours! Thank goodness I only had a few hundred rather than a few thousand or I wouldn't have bothered. I do have a ton more on my PC but I rarely listen to them anymore so I left them alone to rot for now. I could've just went with Power Amp but that conflicts with my other OCD habit of avoiding 3rd party apps if there's already a decent one pre-installed.
