So I just ordered 2 rezounds for $50 each. One for me and the Mrs. I am coming from a D Incredible. I'm rooted, modded and all that stuff. I DON'T want to Root the Rezound right away. Is there a way to back up and restore from my Dinc to my Rezound when it arrives tomorrow? I LOVED my Dinc, but it's battery is getting tired, and I'd like to take the 4g plunge. I WILL root the rezound eventually for Wireless tether, but in the meantime, I mostly want to restore my wifi passwords. I have been to plenty of places where I don't want to/or can't get the passwords again to connect. I can do this easily with titanium with root, but like I said, I don't want to root right away.....That and I only use Mac. It will take time to get to a PC to root it :)

Occasionally I see a feature saying Google will backup and restore wifi passwords in the same way it manages your contacts. I have yet to actually see this take effect though. As for apps, purchased apps are of course permanently tied to your google account, and with the "Play" market update, going to "My Apps" and swiping to the "all" screen seems to now show me any app I've EVER downloaded, be it free or purchased.

1) You need root to do a good backup and restore with Titanium backup or mybackup pro

2) You can unlock/root with a MAC. It's actually really easy

I am not a "rooter" but I love my Rezound anyway. I am sure you and the Mrs. will love yours too!

I have read how to unlock it with a Mac, but I have not seen anywhere the method for rooting with a mac. Of course I will admit, I have extensively searched, as I don't have the phone yet.

Ok, Wow. That took all of 2 minutes. Just read that once it's unlocked, I can install Amon Ra recovery and root it that way. Never tried Amon Ra on my Dinc, but heard good things. Looking forward to it. I can't be without my wifi passwords.....even with the unlimited plan.

Welcome to club Rezound sugarhill. You're gonna love it.

For backups you can actually take the entire Titanium back up file from the SD card of your Inc and drag it to your Mac. Then go into the folder and find the apps you've backed up that you want to carry over. There are like three separate files with different extentions for each backed up app. Select the apps and its associated files that you want to bring over to the Rezound and just drag them to the Titanium folder on your Rezound (after you've rooted and installed TB that is) and you should be good to go. They ought to show up now on your new phone in TB. It takes some figurering which app is which but its not that difficult, and make sure you get ALL the files associated with the app you want.

Hey Wanda! Good to see a familiar poster. I really wasn't 100% ready to retire my Dinc, but who can pass up $50 for an upgrade? I was really hoping to receive the phone today, but the shipping tracking isn't showing it until next week. Damn Holiday weekend :). I'm looking forward to playing around with it. I've actually restored apps from my Dinc onto my NOOK Color with Titanium. I just pulled the SD card out of the phone, and installed in the Nook and restored with TB on the nook. No copying necessary. Even game data (like angry birds) would transfer over. I just never touch anything that shows up in red. :) Learned the hard way when I first rooted the Dinc.

It's funny, the whole upgrade started with my wife. She HATES her D2 as the camera on is sucks (among other reasons to hate it) So started looking for a replacement for her. Anything Moto was out of the question, and Samsungs seemed iffy with the camera quality. I know how good the camera is on my Dinc, so when the Rezound dropped to $50, I had to get it for her. And hey, I can't let her be the only one walking around with a brand new phone :p

Know of any good senseless Roms out there for the Rezound? As much as I love HTC and Sense, it truly does sap resources from the phone and battery.I've been running Insensitive Minimalist for the past 6 months on my Dinc.
