The only reason to root is if your obsessed with customization. What bloat are you taking about that's "hogging" your battery? I see people new to rooting on this forum asking about what to remove as soon as they root because they can't find anything. There's nobody on here with a rooted phone getting drastically better performance battery wise out of their phone then non rooted users.
Being able to block permissions is kind of useful, but for the average person really has no impact. Again, it's good for people that like to tinker with customization really.
