Android Central Question
Hello all
I picked up an S8 last week. I am not new to Android but its been a while. I have been using iPhone for the last 6 years, and I have a few issues with the Samsung that are making me consider switching back. I was wondering if there is a solution for anything below…
1. Reply to text message using notification: On the iPhone, when you send a reply from a notification bubble, you can then send other messages after. On the S8, once I send the first reply, the notification disappears, and I was wondering if there was a way to choose between the notification reply staying open and closing after one message.
2. The iphone allows you to customize notifications to each app, such as sounds and vibrations, showing up on the lock screen and banners. Each of those features can be controlled individually for each app. The S8 doesn’t seem to allow you to choose which apps get drop down notifications at all times and you cant control sounds and vibrations except for calls, texts, email, and calendar.
3. “ok Google” unlocks the phone if you want to be able to use it from the lock screen. Hey Siri would send texts, make calls, create appointments, etc. without unlocking the phone. Seems like a big security issue, but I do want to be able to use ok Google for the tasks listed above while the phone is still locked. Also, I can’t get ok google to work from the AOD. It only works from the lock screen when the phone is locked.
4. The Iphone bluetooth volume would remember the phones volume setting used for each individual device, and revert to that volume when the device was connected. With the S8, I have headphones (that support media sync), but then when I connect to the car at some point after having used the headphones (car does not support media sync), the phones media volume is still set to where I had the headphones set, and I cant hear anything without turning the volume on the phone up. This is annoying to do every time, but I haven’t been able to find a solution. Also, its pretty disconcerting to then connect back to the headphones at some point and then realize the volume is all the way up after a song has begun playing.
I don’t want to start another iPhone v Android debate or what not, and I really do like this phone, but what I mentioned above gets me through the day mostly, so any thoughts or solutions would help.
