I'm coming over from CrackBerry after deciding to leave behind my BlackBerry KEY2 for a new unlocked Galaxy Note 10+

I'm on the Rogers network in Toronto.

How is Samsung with OS updates? Are they released monthly like the Google Pixel devices or are the updates more sporadic?

Also, how long can I expect updates? 2 or 3 years?

Any help would be appreciated.

We've been getting security updates every month, often before the pixels.

It's anyone's guess how long they'll keep it up. As far as I know quick updates are unexplored ground for Samsung phones.

Hey Matt welcome to AC. Never look back, you won't miss it (CrackBerry that is).

I've had my S10+ since last summer and monthly updates have been right on schedule every month. We even got upgraded from Pie to Q before the end of 2019. I'm on Telus.

When you buy your Samsung make sure it is a Canadian model. All Canadian carriers use the same one. Avoid the international variants with Exnyos, dual sim, etc. The Canadian variant has a Qualcomm chipset and is single sim. A good shop to purchase from in Toronto is Swiftronics.ca - you will save hundreds versus from Rogers and as long as its a Canadian variant it will be the exact same device they are selling. No more worries about VoLTE and wifi calling. Good luck!

Thanks all for the information, much appreciated.

I bought he Note 10+ from the Samsung Canada Store online. It shipped locally and arrived in 2 days.

One more question... since the 10+ shipped with Android 9, and has since been upgraded to Android 10, can we expect Android 11 when it's releaseD?

There hasn't been an announcement about that yet. In Canada, Android 10 dropped in late Dec for the Galaxy 10's and just after New Years for the Note models, which was quite a bit earlier than previous years. We may see an upgrade to Android 11 this year, but I doubt it.

Hi Matt, I left my Priv around 7 months ago and went with an S10+. I still visit Crackberry but I'm on here more now. Just wanted to let you know that the Hub and the rest of the BlackBerry Android apps work very good on the S10. Thanks to Cobalt I'm even using the BlackBerry keyboard which I like better than the Samsung keyboard. Couldn't get rid of my swipe typing lol!
I've pretty much got updates around the first week every month so far. I'm on Verizon in the US, and I believe that the updates still have to go through your carrier first. I'm not really sure if I'm correct with that though. So far the S10 + has been an amazing phone. Good luck with your Note 10! These forums are very helpful and there's a lot of very helpful people here too. And like Crackberry, sometimes snarkiness lol

Welcome to Android Central! I'm also a former CB lurker - welcome to the world of Android! You'll see a few other CB dudes here, as well.

We've been getting updates pretty regularly! I just bought my S10 in October and, coming from a Pixel 2, I'm quite satisfied with the update frequency.

S7 is the oldest device I know of still getting updates, it was monthly for 3 years and now quarterly.

Samsung usually updates the OS itself for 2 years.

Welcome ! I am also long time BlackBerry and Crackberry user.
I am coming too from the Key 2 and bought last October the Note 10+.
Very satisfied from the overall performance of the phone.

Updates so far are coming within the first week of the month.

If you miss the BlackBerry you can download the hub and other apps from the play store as well as the keyboard from Cobalt , they all run perfectly!

Thanks all for the good information. I am using the BlackBerry Hub + Inbox already, along with BBM Enterprise and Password Keeper.

I check out CrackBerry occasionally but I'm sure it will turn into a ghost town soon with the end of BlackBerry devices.

The end of BlackBerry - very sad! Wow, the potential end of CB also sounds very sad. Noooooo!

Yeah, not much going on there anymore except ads for VPNs and Project Management training. It's too bad, it was quite vibrant, but the moment TCL announced that they weren't making devices anymore, it just died.

How's that any different from the other mobile Nations sites lol?
