How ya doin' yall!

I was lurking here for an hour or so and just decided to sign up. Like my title says I don't actually have an Android phone, yet. I plan on probably getting one tomorrow. I'm going for the LG Optimus S, cuz I have Sprint and it'll be a free upgrade through Radio Shack. I've actually been debating on getting the LG with hopes that there might be a better "free" phone in the near future, maybe one of the 4G's? But I don't know if that's really going to happen. Also I don't know how much longer I can wait. I currently have a Blackberry Curve 8530 and it's terrible. It's slow, the battery only lasts half a day and that's when I'm not even using it, and it get's horrible 3G coverage. Did I also mention that it's slow?

So anyhow back to the 'droid's, the one main feature that I really like about the LG is the possibility of Hotspot wireless tethering. The only thing is I don't want to pay the 29.95 a month to do it through Sprint, can you tell I'm kinda cheap. I been trying to do research on this whole rooting business but it seems so confusing. I have some knowledge of computers and new tech, but I don't know if I have confidence enough on breaking my, hopefully, "brand new" phone and bricking it to hell. That would be all I need. Another thing I seems to like about 'droid phones is the seemingly endless possibilities of gaming on it. I really the liked the idea of emulators on the phone, but again will rooting be required to do so? And if that's the case, that would suck because I REALLLLLLLLY want to play emulators on my phone.

So anyhow that's my introduction, I tend to ask a lot of questions because I have a hard time making decisions. You should see me play Fallout 3, I've still yet to beat it because I can never decide on which quest to do first.
