I was wondering if the new update that came out comes with an APK package installer to install apps outside of the Android market. If it does, then I may update, but if not then I want to stay rooted.

im pretty sure you can install any apk now without the update...

Can you use to AC-SWM to sideload apps to the stock nook color (i.e., not rooted)?

I'm pretty sure that the AC-SWM requires root as I think it uses ABD to do the transfers.

I use it on my unrooted Inspire 4G with AT&T. No issues. You do need to turn on USB debugging though. Can you do that on the Nook?

Thanks!

An app/package installer exists on 1.2. Unfortunately - and expected - you must get root and set a switch for it to allow non-market apps to be installed. I tried to DL Amazon Appstore and got to choose package installer, but errored outt on the next step (actual install).
