New update in a month?

I was at the Best Buy store where I purchased my phone to ask a question about my phone updating the weather on my home screen. The salesman who sold me the phone told me that there will be an update for the camera and audio released in a month. I mentioned that there was supposed to have been an update released in Europe regarding this and he said it was the same update.

I hope that this is true, if not, the rumor started here.

As an aside, he was able to fix my problem and the Sprint stores I went to weren't.

Sales reps at any retail store know nothing more than you or me about updates. If they are telling you there will be an update, it is pure conjecture unless they produce something from the carrier that says it.

To update the weather, reboot and clear data in the Weather app. It'll then find your location fine .

Thats not true. I worked at best buy and in the cellular department you would have direct contact to cellular reps that knew much more then the carrier stores and would somtimes share information, however it certainly doesn't make it credible either

For fun over a holiday season, I did work at Best Buy mobile. I knew the manager and he needed help and he knew I knew my stuff. For the most part, most sales people aren't going to know detailed info about any upcoming OS releases or patches. Every now and then, we would get retail reps from at&t, and Verizon stop in and give us updates, but never did I find out about an OS updates. We did get info on new devices coming out, but usually sites like AC would be well in front of that. I am a phone junkie and this is a hobby of mine so I stayed in the know compared to my co-workers. In fact, they always came to me with questions and I usually would bring up AC, Crackberry, and iMore. Now this guy could be like that, but I would caution anything they tell you. I will say I know they don?t get paid commission so there is no incentive for him to lie just to get or close a sale. But I would take it with a grain of salt.

While I agree with you I do believe the update is coming it was just released on the euro version it's been out about a month and HTC Twitter said all one's would be getting this with the month. Maybe the dude got it from there I am also a phonejunkie

Thank you. My phone wasn't doing that. It stated that the weather data wasn't available. I spoke with someone at Sprint tech support and went to a store, neither of whom were able to fix the problem. The rep found the switch that I hadn't turned on. I was about to report this as a possible bug.

It was when I was talking to him about this problem and the problem with my back and home buttons not lighting consistently when he told me that most of the problems reported about the phone had to do with the camera and that an update would be coming out in a month. I don't know where he gets his information so take it for what it's worth. He is also the sales rep who said that he wasn't that impressed with the S4 when he was trained on it and thought the ONE was a better phone, at least for his needs.

True dat! I once asked a retail store clerk about when did they know if Sprint LTE would come into our market (they were promoting Sprint to my wife) and they effusively said that by Xmas. That was almost three years ago.

I can only hope... I was there for the EPIC evolte update thread. A thread that will live in people's memories for generations
