I got a new update on my Gear S3 that was about 20mb in size, and the stated purpose is to fix the battery drainage in Tizen 3.0. I'm finalizing the update now, but hopefully it will address some of the issues that people have been having since the big update.

Hopefully this successful update paves the way for us carrier model S3 people to get a nice firmware update holiday present.

Stormywaters.....What setup are running though? Always on display? wifi? Gps? which watchface? thanks!

I got the update last night in the US too, I checked for it manually though. In 1.5 hours use off the charger today, battery has dropped 5%. Always on display on with the Gsimple12hour watchface, wifi off, gps off, NFC off, obviously, BT on, brightness set to 7

Now, after more than 54hours since last full charge, mine is still at 40%.

Maybe the carriers will start pushing out their 3.0 updates. I have the verizon version and I am itching to get constant heartrate during workouts.

Don't get too excited, much to my frustration it appears as though there is a bug with the heartrate tracker when exercising, where it will get to a certain point and then flatline. Last time I went for a run it said my heart rate got up to 166 and stayed at the exact same point for the following 25 minutes. Before the update my HR would fluctuate but now it seems to be stuck.

Update or no update I have found that a periodic factory update has substantially increased battery life.

But beware loss of Samsung health data.

Question - do you start an exercise on your S3, or do you let it auto-detect it? I notice when I let it auto-detect it doesn't give me a heart rate reading, which leads to inaccurate calorie burn. I haven't tried manually starting an exercise.

I always start them manually so that they start HR tracking and location tracking (in the case of a run) right away.
