New user ? about tethering GS3?.....

I'm thinking of getting my first android phone. I'm looking at the galaxy s3 as my new phone from sprint. After some online reading it looks like it might be possible to use the g3 as a wifi hotspot without paying for the sprint option.

Is that true and what would be the process? Would I need a new app to do that and if so suggestions on what app?

That's basically all I do now with my windows phone.

Many will say to root your phone and download teether.

Many will say you can try some programs like foxfi. You will have to download that off of their website, not Google Play.
