I have had the Droid Incredible for about a year. I wanted (or thought...) the 2.3 updates. After searching and talking with VZW, I could not update with a rooted phone. So I decided to unroot it.

I followed directions that took me all the way back to 2.1, unrooted. I have the S-OFF in the boot menu, if that helps. All I want is the phone back in the latest 2.2 state or to get it into a state where the OTA update will be pushed and installed so I can have an up to date phone again. At this point, I am over my head and do not know where to go from here to get my phone back up to date.

Can someone help me, please?

If you are S-OFF then you are in good shape. Download the Clockwork 5.0.2.0 from here Recoveries | PvilleComp's and flash it in HBOOT (There is a how to there as well).

Once you have clockwork installed you can flash any ROM you want - the Rooted Stock GB ROM listed in the ROM's and MOD's HQ Thread in the rooting subforum is a good one of you want to stay stock but get root back.

Hope this helps.

Pville is absolutely right. Follow the directions to install the rooted version of the OTA. Super easy and runs awesome.
