Just got my first Droid two weeks ago a Virgin Mobile LG Optimus V. I love it! It was running 2.2 and I used Gingerbreak to root it after several failed attempts with other programs. Now my friend got her and her brother the HTC Wildfire S and I'm trying to root it also.
I'm learning this on the fly and reading these threads helps a lot, especially what not to do!
