To anyone who feels like responding....

I'm on my 3rd thunderbolt in a year. Warranty is out and I just rooted the phone. I'm feel like a 5 year old sitting at the controls of a nuclear power plant and haven't got the foggiest notion of what I'm doing.

The reason I rooted this phone is because for the last 4 days, I'm mostly in 1X instead of 3g/4g. I've pulled the battery; rebooted, blah, blah. I thought it was my area so I traveled 1,000 miles away to Kentucky but I'm having the same connection problems. My son's Incredible2 is having no problems.

So now I've rooted and I'm like, "Now what". I downloaded ROM Manager b/c Nat3Mil said to, but there were no BAMF roms on there. So I'm currently downloading killasense 3.7. I didn't wipe anything but I just realized maybe I should have.

I don't know about wiping or storing or restoring or radios or OTA's or nothing. I've read multiple posts on multiple sites and it's nearly like reading russian.

So....does any of this make sense? Or do I just need to put a bullet in the phone?

Why is this your third TB? Did the past ones experience the same issue?

Have you tried contacting your carrier to ask them why you are mostly in 1x if people around you aren't?

1st TB - dropped and broke glass
2nd TB - sent in at 11th hour of warranty - GPS quit working and I didn't know what else to do
3rd TB - have it.

Talked to carrier on 1st morning of issues. They created a ticket and 1 day later called me to say it wasn't on their end.

I've since rooted my phone but I"m on the stock rom b/c I'm too scared or stupid to know what to do next. I have ROM Manager from Clockworkmod and tried to flash Killakilla 3.7. Everything seemed to work with the flash process, but nothing happened....I think.

I traveled to Dallas and my phone was healed. Blazingly fast. I can't keep up with it - it's so awesome. I decide I like this piece of crap after 1 year of hating it.

I travel home to Tyler today. I'm back to 1X or nothing at all. So it works in Dallas, but not in Tyler or Cincinnati (Northern Kentucky area)

Questions: So do I flash a rom with a different radio??? Is that how I can get a better signal? Scared straight b/c I have an E-key app that I use to get me into homes (home inspector) and I can't afford to have that app not work.

Well, hmm. You would think it was the phone, or the area. But, you had problems 1000 miles away, but, not at this other place you traveled too. Not really sure.

Installed a new sim card today. That wasn't the problem. It's weird, I can drive all over my town and have 4G/3G coverage. But the closer I get to home....nada.... My wife has 3G coverage at home.

Sorry man, I got nothing else. You can try posting this in General Help and How To to maybe get some other people's ideas. Or, maybe you have insurance? If not, how long ago did you get your third replacement, if you got it very recently and the warranty just expired, I'd still call and try them get them to replace it. Keep calling back if you have to.
