Newb question on force closing

Why is force closing something you might need to do?

How long is force closing supposed to last. When I force close an app it always comes back on...sooner or later. I haven't been able to figure out when or why, but they all come back on

Not enough information... like what it is you are Force Closing.

Ok, here goes... Android OS will open and restart things it needs to, or is told to... in some cases because VZW modified the OS it will start things like VZ Navigator, City ID, TuneWiki, VCast App, etc, etc, etc (even if you have not started it)... leave these alone... if you stop them, the OS will start them, causing a battery drain to restart the app that is not really doing anything.
