Newbie looking to upgrade stock fascinate

I'm a newbie and picked up a clean verizon samsung fascinate SCH-I500. i'm looking to upgrade the phone. Looking to see which firmware is best and stable. If someone can provide links, i would greatly appreciate it

A lot of ROMs come with root, so that may take some of the steps out. I would say go with Cyanogen but I have been away from the fascinate forever.....

I loaded teamhacksung's ICS 6 months ago and haven't changed it since. Battery life is pretty strong. I'm on still v6, just checked and they're up to v14...

I just flashed ICS to my Fascinate and it is amazing now. Flash 40.1 devil ROM (first link) and then update to the .96 Devil kernal. These guys did a great job pulling my Fassy out of the toilet. Fast, smooth, no lag good battery life (stock battery that is close to 2yrs old).
