Hi All,

Very new to android,
We just went to the S5 from our iPhones and to be honest i'm struggling a bit!

The one major hassle i have is that my pop3 email always "Synchronises".

I set my phone to "leave mail on the server" after checking on the phone, so that i can download it onto the home PC.
I set the PC to delete mail from server after checking so that it clears the mail server.

As soon as the server is emptied, the email is removed from my phone....
I really want to keep a copy on the phone for reference (work on the run) regardless of the status of the email on the server.
Basically , IF the phone grabbed it.. it stays there till i Manually delete!

Any ideas please?
I tried turning off sync on each account, and also the "master sync" options, but this did not stop them from being removed when they are gone from the mail server!

Any help would be *GREATLY* appreciated!!

Hi! I could be wrong but I don't think the email is downloaded to the phone. I think the phone app is similar (in how it works) to a browser. You can see your email and decide what to do with it from the phone app, but it doesn't download to your phone's storage. So that's why you can't keep a copy in the app after you delete it from the servers using a computer.

Oh Bugger!!
Thanks very much for that!

Would you happen to know if there was a mail ap that acts like a traditional mail application on the computer (as in downloading a copy)?

Thanks again!
The Android is definitely a change for an iphone user!
But i will get there!! :)

Well I tried bluemail app and it still syncs email.

Id really like to learn how to turn this off so it just saves a copy locally to the phone!
Any help available please?

My observations are like yours. The S5 inbox is a partial ‘image’ of your current server. To keep an email on your phone you must save it ; typically it will go to: ‘My Files>Device Storage>Saved Emails’
...good luck

Thanks for the reply!

I have downloaded Maildroid app which has the correct POP3 ability!

Cheers!

In a situation like yours you may want to try IMAP and not pop3.
Blue mail rocks!
