You can add widgets to the home screen that provide you with direction access to various settings.

If you're in the US or Canada, it will be added soon. If you're international, you already have it. The notification shade has a shortcut to the settings on 4.1.2. On newer versions, that button will take you to the quick settings panel.

Also in version 4.2.2+ they have the 2 finger notification bar dropdown that goes straight to quicksettings. Too bad we have to wait over here for update 4.3 which is taking forever.
