Newbie with some questions.

Hello all,

I used to have a Sprint Nexus S 4g but it broke and Sprint gave me this Epic 4g as a replacement. I would like to root this phone to the version of Android that is untouched by Samsung as with any Nexus device. I am unsure how to do this as there are so many different builds.

I have whatever Sprint calls the Samsung Galaxy S2 and this Samsund skinned Android is worthless! Please help!

Not to sound rude, but you really need to know at the very least the name of your device. Things can turn nasty fast if you install the wrong software

I have a Sprint Samsung SDH-D710 which is a Galaxy S2 and an Epic 4G Touch. I have no idea why Sprint would need to change the name.

They changed the name to keep the branding simple across Sprint, Boost and Virgin. Also keeps it in line with all other GS2 variants.
