next Nexus or iPad Mini?

My background is that of a hardcore Android lover. I love Android on the phone and will probably not switch back to iPhone anytime soon. However I did use the iPad up until the Nexus 7 came out.

I have a daughter and have purchased some apps for my Nexus 7 for her and games for me too. I sold my Nexus 7 in anticipation for the next Nexus 7. When that wasn't announced at Google I/O, I decided to go out on a whim and buy the iPad Mini for $299 at Wal-Mart.

I love that apps like ABC, NBC, Nickelodeon all have quality streaming video. None are available on the Nexus 7. The con is that I'd have to buy apps for two different platforms if I want them on both the tablet and the phone.

I guess I'm just looking for thoughts on if I should keep the iPad Mini or wait it out and get the next Nexus 7 tablet. Anyone have both an iPad and an Android phone?

rumor is that N7 2 will be released in june. N7 is coming very soon. google wont ignore it since its one of the best selling nexus device.

since this is Nexus forum i would say buy N7 2

I am sort of in the same boat as you...While I didn't sell my N7, I was hoping for an 8" N7 during Google I/O.......well that didn't happen so it looks like I'll be waiting for the new Samsung Galaxy 3. 8" tablet....that is unless the next upgrade to te N7 is an 8" tablet.....I find that the N7 is great but I want that little extra size! I also have an iPad 3 retina which I like but I find it just a little to heavy and bulkie. To me the 8" tablet is the "sweet spot!"

And this new rumour is no more substantiated than the previous ones that said it would be announced at Google I/O. It may be that they'll wait till October and release it at the same time as their next Nexus phone.

wait till October?? No that's not going to happen. by that time ipad mini 2 and new kindle fire would have come out and they would lose sales.
last time Google rushed Nexus 7 to slow down fire's growth and they did succeed to a certain extend. I dont think they are going to do the same mistake again.
N7 was available on mid july maybe they will release a new version at that time.

While I am a fan of the iPad mini (got one for my mom) I can't get over how poor the screen resolution is. My mom doesn't notice, but it's clear as night and day when compared to my iPad retina and my Nexus 7.

I personally can't wait for the new Nexus 7...I hope it hits in June. But, you mentioned loving certain apps that are not available on Android just yet. While I like the Nexus 7 more, I think it may be smart for you to stick with the iPad. There's no telling when those apps will come to Android.

Next Nexus. It'll have the new version of Android, Android-customization and a bang for the buck price.
