Any news on the next nexus phone? Will it be released by October? Because I'm switching to at&t in September w my who family because some of there phones are breaking down. Once we make the switch., I have to get a new phone becuz mine doesn't work on at&t. Now they are willing to wait till October to make the switch. Should we wait, or should I get galaxy s3?

Get the GS3 now and don't wait for a phone that hasn't been even announced.

The S3 is the best phone out there right now and I'm 100% you won't be disappointed

GSIII is a beast, no doubt, and I am facing a similar decision as I switch to T-Mobile. I think I am going to go the GNex route and skip whatever Nexus comes out this year. I just have a feeling the 2013 Nexus will be a beast. I've played around with a GSIII, and it is far and away the best phone out there right now. I doubt you would be disappointed with that choice.

Galaxy S3 is a good phone, but not perfect and it's understandable why the OP would want to hold off on the S3 for the new Nexus phone.

To answer the question, no, there's no news about the next Nexus phone. Just rumours like it'll be made by multiple manufacturers and what not.

I'm not entirely convinced that there will be a Nexus phone 2012 model. Nexus devices are typically released with new Android software versions (2.1 Nexus One, 2.3 Nexus S, 4.0 Galaxy Nexus, 4.1 Nexus 7) so I'd assume if Google were to release a new Nexus phone, it would coincide with a new software version (4.2 Key Lime Pie?), which I'm not convinced we'll see this year.

Maybe they'll take a different approach and release a Nexus phone with no new accompanying software, but I'd like to think not.

I would get a used nexus for the switch and save your upgrade for the next nexus when it comes out. If possible .

I'm definitely waiting, not much of a choice, my contract isn't up until November anyhow. Seems like perfect timing. The SIII is an awesome phone, but I can't deal with the carrier apps and skins any longer. So an unlocked Nexus with a T-Mobile Value plan seems like the perfect solution.

I don't see a big deal waiting a couple of months, since phone release cycles are pretty well known now, it's pretty guaranteed there will be a shiny, new Nexus around November.

I think i might take that route too, because the galaxy nexus is only 350 dollars right now no contract

2.1 (Eclair) wasn't a new software version, so the Nexus One doesn't count in the above equation. Anyway, I don't see why Google wouldn't release something later this year.

I love my T-Mobile GS3, but if you're wanting to get the GS3, get the International version or even better the Korean one with both quadcore SoC and 2GB of Ram

2.1 was the newest version of Android that was released with Nexus One. The phone released with a new software version as have all Nexus devices.

I don't see Google releasing a phone without new software. It would have to be a really high-end phone to compete with the iPhone 5, SGS3, One X etc.

I just don't see them releasing a new phone without a new Android version. That's a large part of the appeal of a Nexus device. Newest Android software.

Just get the S3, it's the best Android phone in the market right now with it's quad core processor, 8mp camera, and a whole bunch of features..... You're not gonna be disappointed. :-)

I'm really wondering what the next Nexus will bring on VZW. I have an upgrade coming in April but if I could get a true Nexus experience without VZW delaying updates that would be the way I'd go (even if I had to pay full price for the phone). I honestly love my GNex and 4.0.4 made the phone a joy to use. Having 4.1.1 on my Xoom makes me want that update on my GNex... seems silly that GSM versions get it and VZW has to wait (I know all the reasons, just still frustrates me).

And yes I know I can root... No I've never done it before and yes I've been thinking about it. What holds me back? Having to basically wipe my phone and start over. Just time consuming etc. I personally bought a Nexus to have a quick phone without bloatware and a MFG UI on it. Quicker updates too would be nice.

I'd suggest getting the Galaxy Nexus for $350 from the Google Play store. It works on AT&T's network, will get updates before CDMA versions of the Nexus, and is still a very capable phone.

I really wish they release Nexus 4 rather than Galaxt Nexus 2.

Would love a quad core Nexus Phone..

if you can wait wait for the next nexus or go with S3... the only problem with s3 is the software update might be slow.
